From Chris Roussey
Jamie grew up always wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a police officer. He would sit in the front row at court as a young boy and watch his dad testify. As soon as Jamie was old enough to apply for the Academy, he did. While in the academy, Jamie excelled and was always in the top tier of his class. His academy class participated in the Baltimore-leg of the Law Enforcement Memorial Run, a 3-day run held every year from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. to honor all the officers killed in the line of duty. Although Jamie finished the race with ease, he realized that some of his class did not, so, true to his character, he and the few others from his class ran back onto the course to assist and encourage the others to finish strong.
Once Jamie graduated from the academy, he chose to go to the Western District where his dad started his career. The Western District is still one of the toughest in the city. Jamie excelled in his short time as an officer. He trained with Quick Response Team (QRT) officers after work hoping to be accepted into the unit as soon as he was off probation. He worked hard with the community to help bridge the relationship between kids and the police.
Sadly, Jamie’s life was taken before his career could fully begin. Always known for his sense of humor and selflessness, one of the stories told at his funeral was that just a few hours before he was killed, he was at a local convenient store purchasing chips and candy for a big group of neighborhood kids. They were goofing around, and he even pretended he was a parade conductor with his baton as he led them down the block.
Jamie was truly a cop’s cop and we miss him every day. Please help us honor his memory with a 20th year anniversary shirt.
”We remember so heroes live forever.”
All proceeds from this shirt will be given to LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL RUN through Chris Roussey.
